2008-2009 Snow Tracking Update

Locations Tagged for 11-22-08

Lake Effect snow will diminish dramatically in the western Great Lakes.  In the mean time this event will continue to impact Northeastern PA and Western New York though Saturday Night.  Significant accumulations are still expected in many areas.  We will continue to monitor all locations that have been and will be affected by this winter weather event.

National Weather Bureaus are now monitoring a new system which has the potential to bring snow to a large portion of the Northeast Monday night and Tuesday.

New York

2-  Western NY (Rochester Area)-  Tonight: Snow showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 20.  Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible. Saturday: Snow, mainly before noon. High near 28. Northwest wind between 10 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

3-  North Central NY (Syracuse Area)-  Tonight: Snow showers. Low around 21. West wind between 7 and 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches possible.  Saturday: Snow showers, mainly before 1pm. High near 29. West wind between 6 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.

3-  Southwestern NY (Jamestown Area)-  Tonight: Occasional snow showers. The snow could be heavy at times. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches possible.  Saturday: Snow, mainly before noon. High near 26. Northwest wind between 10 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches possible.

Ohio

2-  Northwestern OH (Cleveland/Akron Areas)-  Tonight: Snow showers. Low around 22. West wind between 9 and 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.  Saturday: A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 33. West wind between 7 and 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Pennsylvania

2- Northwestern PA (Erie)-  Tonight: Snow showers. Low around 24. Breezy, with a west wind between 18 and 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.  Saturday: Snow showers, mainly before noon. High near 32. Breezy, with a west wind between 11 and 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

Diminishing LES-  Snowbelts downwind of lakes Huron, Erie and Ontario will continue to have periods of heavy snow into Saturday. The snowbelts of Michigan will have the lake-effect snow activity diminish considerably Friday night.

New Snow Potential-  The snow shield will work northeastward getting into upstate New York and New England Monday night and Tuesday. Based on what little information currently exists, we think the area likely to get the most snow is from around Utica, New York to Berlin, New Hampshire.
